During Enrollment, should I emphasize Awards or Content?

Which will drive more results for your program: Prizing or the Content?

There is no single answer to rely on. However, the rule of thumb is:  If your participants typically respond well to giveaways, deals, or benefits, then definitely emphasize the prizes. If they do not respond well to those, then de-emphasize them. If you do not have this kind of data, then put equal emphasis on prizing and content relevance, and consider running a survey or focus group to learn what your participants were attracted to.

Another Rule of Thumb: In most Series, we find that prizes are important in the beginning to get users motivated.  Prizes are what are known as "extrinsic" motivators. Gradually as the relevance of the content, and the fun of the competition, sets in, the prizing can be de-emphasized to some degree as "intrinsic" grows. That said, if you want to re-ignite the interest or participation of participants who may have fallen away at some point, offering a “sizzly” prize can sometimes recapture their attention.

As part of your license, we provide you with recommendations for enrollment channels that may be of use, as well as survey Qs if you are applying surveys in your program.
