Awards Tutorial

Why Awards? Here's Why!

The point of Motivators and prizing is to provide players with a token of respect for their time invested in your experience. A pleasant side-effect is they drive people to learn and take actions!

Awards notifications are delivered through the app as either 'scheduled' or 'triggered' messages - They are not fulfilled through the app! Prize fulfillment is handled after a Challenge is complete!

Awards are delivered as Giveaways or Achievements

Achievement awards are earned for demonstrating exceptional performance or skill. They might be awarded for things like finishing in the top 3 positions on the leader board or getting all of the Q's right on a given day.

Giveaways are smaller rewards strictly for participation. It's important to have plenty of these awards available so that the majority of your players will keep some stake in the game hoping for that moment when they win a prize.  For Giveaways, winners are selected at random by the system.

Let the Prize fit the Player!

Achievers are those who strive with every round to place on the leader board and are self-motivated by nature.  They do not need an expensive or even substantial reward to keep engaged! The "bragging rights" is usually enough to keep them on-board!

Participants, who verge on disengagement often quit participating because they are not winning or seeing the instant success they might have been expecting and it becomes vital to make sure that EVERY participant in the Challenge feels supported.

Giveaways can be done in two highly effective ways.

Instant Wins!

Instant Win awards can be low-value gift cards, like Starbucks, Amazon, and Panera - motivation comes from winning something in a Challenge that was totally unexpected and has nothing to do with placement or achievement.

Sweepstakes Drawings!

Sweepstakes Drawings are outstanding motivators and are usually worth a substantial amount more than the Instant Win prizes.

Important Tip! We recommend that you use the sweepstakes entries to drive actions that you want your players to take. Try these proven and engaging methods:

  • Give away an entry for every Q played and another for getting the answers correct!
  • Give a sweepstakes entry to players clicking on a link to the Learn More Library
  • Then, additional sweepstakes entries for giving feedback through a short survey.
  • All of these suggestions and more can be programmed when adding/editing a Badge or Award.
  • Work these low-value gift cards into amazing leverage tools driving actions and collecting data.

Note: Give away A LOT of sweepstakes drawing entries!! Turn them into the currency of micro actions BUT, you may want to silence the Award alert, so the players aren't distracted or frustrated by the constant ping of micro actions being completed all around them!
